Cumbria EBP offers two types of work experience programmes: Block Placement and Extended Placement.
Work Experience is a placement on employers’ premises in which a learner carries out a particular task or duty, or range of tasks or duties, more or less as would an employee, but with the emphasis on the learning aspects of the experience. Work Experience can be for pre 16 or post 16 students and can be either block or extended.
By offering Work Experience placements, employers provide students with access to a diverse range of opportunities and experiences within the work place. We can guide you through health and safety legislation and processes relating to Work Experience to minimise the impact on your resources and operations.
We can also support you as outlined below, but if you have a specific need, please contact our Work Experience team to discuss this further.
Employers can avoid been targeted by several placement vetting organisations by subscribing to Cumbria EBP. Cumbria EBP can act as your sole contact for Work Experience. Inform us of how many placements you can offer and when you can offer them and we will take responsibility for dealing directly with all our participating schools as well as using our expertise to match suitable students to your offers.
Cumbria EBP offers support and guidance regarding basic health and safety requirements for small to medium employers. These will cover what small businesses should have in place by Law and how employers can comply. For further information or discussion about what Cumbria EBP can offer employers please contact us.
Cumbria EBP operate a web-based system for work experience administration. All participating schools and colleges will be able to manage, track and monitor their work experience programmes using this exciting format which allows students to choose their own placement opportunities if required. Employers will also be able to access this user friendly system to keep up to date with work experience information and to offer placements should they wish. A full training programme will be provided to all schools who subscribe to Cumbria EBP services for 2011/12 and beyond.
